A Small Sign of Life - July 2025

Yes, I'm still alive! A brief overview of what will still be coming to this blog and where I'm currently spending my time.

Quiet here. But have you ever been to Baden-Württemberg?

Some of you are probably wondering what's currently going on with this blog and why nothing, or hardly anything, is happening here. I'd like to briefly give a sign of life and go over the current status of the various series. First of all, or TL;DR: yes, I'm still alive - and even if I'm not publishing any new posts here right now, this blog will continue to be maintained and there will be more content again. Someday™.

In the longer version: For several months now, as part of the broader scope of my bachelor's thesis, I've been researching the Spezi ecosystem at Stanford University while exploring California and the west coast of North America. When I'm back in Germany in the fall, there will also be a longer article about it.

I'd love to have palm trees in Hamburg too. In general, since my departure from Hamburg, I haven't experienced rain a single time. So winter will probably be a bit frustrating.

So here's a quick overview of the current projects and series:

  1. Crossing the Alps in 30 days: I still owe you a lot of content here. But I need to figure out how I might shorten the writing work, because at 10 hours of work per post, I don't see any way of finishing the series in this century. I also want to incorporate the content on my great, fairly newly acquired domain transalp.in as a meta-guide for Alpine crossings.
  2. Paul in Mexico: Right now I'm considering how worthwhile it is to finish writing this series of posts, since the trip was more than two years ago already.
  3. Life on the West Coast: a new series about my months in dreamy California and the related travels. Hopefully in September.
  4. Cardiolytics: A post about my first own app is coming very soon, hopefully next week, here.

That's it for this little update. See you soon!
