The boy is on TV: Me on "Einfach genial," the MDR's inventor format

At the beginning of January 2021, MDR asked me whether I'd like to show a few of my inventions on the program "Einfach genial." Tomorrow evening, my segment will air on the show, in which I present some of my projects.

The story behind the segment

January. It's snowing, I've had a full day of work, and I'm just about to make myself something to eat. But just before I head into the kitchen, another email lands in my inbox: an unknown sender to me, so I'll answer it tomorrow. But something made me open the email: the subject line read "Filming request MDR - Einfach Genial." Now that was unexpected. What could MDR possibly be planning that I might play a role in? The content of the email revealed more: MDR had noticed my tinkering lines through a newspaper article about my inventions and wanted to produce a segment for the program "Einfach genial" featuring these tinkering lines.

Two phone calls and a few emails later, the details had been discussed and a filming date had been arranged. And so it happened that around three weeks after MDR's first email, a small production team was standing at my apartment door in the morning.

a little behind the scenes :)

The result

Just under eight hours of filming later, it was "that's a wrap!" That marked the end of the final scenes in my basement with my 3D printer (unfortunately, they didn't make it into the final segment due to time constraints).

The segment will air tomorrow evening on 09.03.2021 in the program "Einfach genial" at 7:50 PM; I'll link a recording of the show here after it airs.

Update, 10.03.2021: After the segment aired on MDR yesterday evening, you can now watch the replay in the Mediathek (from minute 17:23).
