Build the TemperatUHR yourself together with me: With the FED at Makerfaire Hannover 2022
More than two years ago, the idea emerged to build a small measuring station for intelligent temperature monitoring of liquids that sends smart alerts about temperature changes to your smartphone - for example, when water on an old solid hotplate starts to boil. That way, you can fill the waiting time with other activities and don’t have to “keep an eye” on the pot.
After this project was completed in version 1 and was able to win the main prize of the first PAUL AWARD 2021, awarded by the Fachverband Elektronik-Design e.V., or FED for short, some people approached me (also prompted by a newspaper article and a feature on the MDR program “Einfach genial!”) asking how they could build the project themselves. Until now, I could only refer them to the GitHub repository containing the source files for recreating it. Due to the fairly high technical complexity and the associated effort required to rebuild it, I had previously refrained from offering kits for the project. But that changes with Makerfaire Hannover 2022: Together with the FED and other partners from the electronics industry, we were able to develop a second revision of the project that, with fewer parts and reduced complexity, offers the same functionality as the original version of the project. And the best part: You can rebuild the project together with me at Makerfaire Hannover in just a few weeks! For this, the FED and I will be present as exhibitors at the fair on all days of the event.
About version 2 of the project
Version 2 of the TemperatUHR was developed with the goal of improving clarity and reducing complexity while maintaining full backward compatibility. To achieve this, the battery has now been moved off-board, some THT components have been replaced with SMD components - and on top of that, there is redesigned software with simplified setup and a new app for connectivity.
