Announcement: My talk at Pi and More 12¼

On Saturday, January 23, 2021, I am expected to give a talk on the topic of microcontroller platforms: here is a small preview

Table of contents

Three years after my very first talk at Pi and More I was asked to give another talk at the online edition of the event series.

After talking a lot about the applications of microcontrollers in 2017, this year the focus will mainly be on comparing the platforms: When should you work with a Raspberry Pi, when is an Arduino development board the better choice, or should the project instead be built around a completely custom-developed system based on microcontrollers?

I take a summary of the talk from the (preliminary) program:

"Whether maker, hardware developer, or researcher: Different hardware platforms offer different possibilities and functions that need to be taken into account when planning a project. In this talk, I want to present the various platforms, from the smallest Arduino microcontrollers to the large, full-fledged Linux development boards, and explain which applications each platform is suitable for."

There is no registration required for Pi and More 12¼, so participation is free. Unlike in other years, however, you will have to provide your own cake refills.

But which microcontroller is the best fit for a project? Here, an ATMega328p—but every project has different requirements. Which ones you should pay attention to is what I want to clarify in the talk.
